Wisdom of Worship


CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of Problem

Introduction of human life on earth is not a life that has no purpose and they are not allowed to do something to follow the will of the feelings and desires without any limits and responsibilities. But the creation of human beings on this earth is to have a purpose and tasks of the minutes that have been determined and specified by Allah. Duties and responsibilities of the real man has a real and so clear, as contained in the Al Quran specifically devoted duty to worship to Allah and his duty as a caliph take care of this earth to follow the laws of Allah. And I'm not created the jinn and humans but that they worship (worship) to Me. (Az-Zaariyaat: 56) Word of God Almighty. When we hear this great verse, we realize that Allah did not create us but for one purpose and one goal that is to submit to Him alone exclusively. With this, we realize the purpose of our presence in this life, and realize whether our reality conforms to this purpose or not. In this paper will be explained about worship and its wisdom.

CHAPTER I

DISCUSSION

2.1 Definition of Wisdom and Worship

Hikmah from Indonesian word actually acculturate from Arabic language, al hikmah. This word mean wisdom, aphorism, philosophy, prophetess, Qur’an, justify, and etc.[1] While in Arabic dictionary meaning of hikmah is very much and very coherent with hikmah essence. Ibnu Manzhur said, alhikmah is the statement towards ideal knowledge which is using ideal knowledge foundations too (ma’rifah afdhal al asyya’ bi afdal alulum).[2]

Worship in the language (etymology) means humility and submission. While according to Islamic rules (terminology), worship has many definitions, but one meaning and intention. Definitions that include:
1. Worship is obedience to God to execute his orders through the oral His Apostles.
2. Worship is the humble themselves to God Almighty, which is subject to the highest levels accompanied by a sense of love the most high.
3. Worship is a term that covers all what he loved and blessed God Almighty, either words or deeds, which zahir and the heart.

Like the other two basic terms already dealt with, the term ibadah too has several different meanings, though all related to each other. The basic concept implied by the root word, abd, is that of acknowledging someone other than oneself as holding supremacy or enjoying overlord ship and of abdicating one's freedom and independence in big favor, of relinquishing any resistance to or disobedience of him, and of surrendering oneself totally to his authority. Since slavery or bondage too are tantamount to similar status, the first sense the word conveys to the mind of any Arab is of this very factor, namely, slavery or bondage.

2.2 The Kind of Worship[3]

Actually there are many kinds of worship but in this discussion just explain about some of worship

In terms of general and particular, worship is divided to
1. Special worship, the worship of its provisions has been set by the texts of Qur’an or Hadith al, such as prayer, fasting, alms, and pilgrimage. Worship is categorized special worship does not accept the addition or subtraction.
2. Public worship, that is all good deeds commendable committed by Muslim men-believers with the intention of worship and done solely because of God.
Public worship, therefore, very much. Among the examples is eating and drinking with the intention for the body to be healthy so powerful worship. Likewise with the intent to educate children so that he became a pious child; buy sarongs, praying cloth, and comfortable mat with the intention to worship; attempt to obtain money for a lot with the intention to perform hajj; get along with his wife with intent to avoid fornication. In short, all acts believer (of course a good and lawful, that is not good and not man-made allow no believer) who performed with the intention of worship starting public worship.

In terms of implementation, the worship was divided to:
1. Worship jasmaniyah and ruhaniyah, that worship which is accomplished by using physical and spiritual, such as prayer and fasting.
2. Worship ruhaniyah and maliyah, namely worship carried out by using spiritual and property, such as alms

In terms of personal and community, worship is divided to:
1. Worship fardi, namely worship that can be implemented individually, such as prayer and fasting.
2. Ijtima'i worship, worship that is performed in order to meet social demands, such as alms, and pilgrimage.

In terms of form and nature, worship is divided to:
1. Worship is made up of words or speech of the tongue, such as dhikr, exalt, tahmid, tahlil, shalawat
2. Worship that have been detailed words and deeds, such as prayer, alms, fasting, and pilgrimage.
3. Worship is not determined implementation techniques, such as helping others, jihad, to defend him, founded the Islamic schools, mosques, hospitals.
4. Worship the implementation in the form of restraint such as fasting, pilgrimage, i'tikaf.
5. Worship of nature right to abort, such as freeing a person from the obligation to pay its debts to us, forgive the mistakes made by other people to us.

2.3 Wisdom of Worship

In this part will be explained about the example of worship and its wisdom.

Praying

Literally praying is pray, like in Allah says in QS Taubah 103

Praying as terminology is worship that is started with takbir and finished by salam. Praying is obligation for every muslim so if we leave it we will get sin.

Wisdom of praying such as:

1. People have the encouragement to good and evil passions, the first and the second grown and controlled braking, and the best means of control is praying. The fact proves that the people who enforce praying is the most minimal conduct and criminal acts of disobedience, on the contrary the more distant a person of praying, the more open disobedience and criminal opportunities.

2. If someone has already fallen into disobedience and this is sure to happen because there is no Man who Ma'shum (awake from sin) other than the prophets and apostles, then prayer is the best for cleaning and kaffarat it.

3. People who praying will be able to balance the attitude on both these life circumstances.

4. To make us closer with God. In praying we can establish our relation with God, if we closer with God so God also give easily for us.

5. Make us more dicipline. Praying became our practice to discipline because to praying we must give attention for time.

6. To make distinguish with non muslim. Although non muslim can do goodness without praying but it is no sense if compare with muslim who do praying, because of praying is muslim identity

7. Keep our healthy. In the result of research mention some advantages of praying in healthy, such as in disease heat, varises, bone, and to increase brain system[4]

Fasting

Fasting is restrain our desire from arising dawn until sunset. Fasting in ramadhan month is obligation for muslim like Allah says in QS Al Baqoroh: 183

Wisdom of fasting such as:

1. Make us closer with God

2. Controling our desire and practicing our patient

3. Maintain physical health. It is no consensus of medical experts, that almost all disease comes from the foods and beverages that affect the digestive organs in the abdomen. Naturally, if by then it's fast the digestive organs in the abdomen that had been continuing to work to digest and process food for the time being rested from dawn until sunset for a month.

4. Practicing our life to care with other people and lose individualism.

Alms

Spesific part in our belongings that became our obligation to give it for human who has right to purify our belongings like in Allah says in QS Al Baqoroh 110

Wisdom of alms such as:

1. As a manifestation of faith in God Almighty, grateful for His blessings, cultivate noble character with a high sense of humanity, eliminating stingy and greedy nature, fostering peace of life, and develop properties. In addition, the charity can also be used as a balance, to weigh the strength of faith of a believer and a genuine level of love.

2. help, assist and nurture the dhu'afa (people who are economically weak) as well as other mustahiq life towards a better and more prosperous, so that they can meet their needs properly, can worship God Almighty, to avoid a hazard kufr, as well as combating the nature of envy, jealousy and envy that might arise when they (poor people) to see rich people who do not care about their affluent lives.

3. To purify themselves from sin, purify the soul (nafs tazkiyatun), bred of noble character, generous, sensitive to the sense of humanity, and erode the character or miserly stingy and greedy. That way, the atmosphere of inner peace because freed from the demands of Allah and social obligations, there will always surround the heart.

4. Alms have a dimension of worship and social functions of economic or equity bounty of Allah and a manifestation of social solidarity, a sense of humanity, demonstration of Islamic brotherhood, bonding and unity of the nation, as an inner fastener between the rich with the poor and as a ravine hoarders which became a strong separation between the groups with the weak.

5. Eliminate hatred, envy, and envy of those around him to a life on easy street, let alone rich and live in luxury. Meanwhile, they do not have anything there was no helping hand from the rich to him.

6. Support the realization of the Islamic social system that stood upon the principles of umatan Wahidah (people who are united), Musawah (people who have equality and liabilities), ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood), and Takaful ijtima'i (mutually accountable responsibility).

Pilgrimage

Pilgrimage is whoship as journey to visit ka’bah to do particular worship

Wisdom of pilgrimage such as:

1 Pilgrimage will foster the motivation to improve them. Someone who is wallowing in sin, are often discouraged by his sins so often felt it was already with his sin. With the assurance of God that pilgrimage will remove sin, as if we are refreshed, so it will be motivated to keep them so as not to create a sin anymore.

2 The gathering of Muslims from around the world at one time in one place foster spirit of solidarity and togetherness.

3 Obedience and submission to God alone. Wisdom is the principal of the pilgrimage as a form of Compliance and surrender to God.

CHAPTER III

CLOSING

3. 1 Conclusion

Definition of Worship is obedience to God to execute His orders through the oral His Apostles.

The kinds of worship are In terms of general and particular are, special worship and public worship. In terms of implementation are worship jasmaniyah and ruhaniyah, worship ruhaniyah and maliyah.

Wisdom of worship is many some of it such as purifying our soul, encourage human to recognize unity of God, encourage human to thanks to God and to unite human.
